WELCOME!

THE PURPOSE OF THIS WEB SITE IS TO ALLOW YOU TO VIEW PART OF OUR MOULD COLLECTION.

join us on Facebook

THESE MOULDS ARE NOT FOR SALE.

Introduction:
This museum is a collection of some 14,000 moulds and a library of supporting books, catalogues and other study material. We have used our limited funds for acquisition and not for display cabinets, etc., Indeed many are in the work areas of Dorothy Timberlake Candies and so are not available for visitation. This collection is small - one maker of chocolate moulds , AR of Dresden, alone made over 30,000 different shapes - but our collection is widely representative of makers and types of moulds.
Ultimately the moulds and other data will go to the Johnson and Wales Museum in Providence, RI. where some will be on display and the others available for study.
The contribution of additional information about the moulds, their manufacture and uses would be appreciated. If you have any such information please send us an e-mail.

Feedback:
Since we have no product to sell, we have no sales figures as feed back as to the functioning of our web site. We are utterly dependent on your comments as to what we have done that is helpful or not. Even typos slip by us. What mistakes have we made? What new information should we be aware of? How could we organize information better?
We very much appeciate your help. Thank you.

Search Tips
Our 'Text Search' does not include any images throughout the text. Please use 'Index of Lables'.

NEW! Indexed Catalogues:
We are beginning a new feature, we plan to present digital photos of the pages of catalogues for viewing. We plan to index the shapes and list them alphabetically with a citation to the maker's catalogue and page where the picture can be found in the digital photo section and the indexed computer searchable section. The computer searchable database will contain all the details available in the catalogue for each shape. Please visit the Indexed Catalogue page for more information on this.

Mould Database (Search Images):
Since we now have photographs of half the moulds (aprox. 10,000) and since we cannot accommodate visitors, we thought it might be worthwhile to set up this web site where interior, exterior and sometimes additional views of the moulds plus a few data would be available to search by computer. It is hoped gradually to photograph the remainder of the moulds and add further notes. These will be updated as possible. Again, these pictures are for your education and enjoyment.
We have used a single page to record any available data on each mould. This has necessitated the extensive use of abbreviations in our data base, the base for this web site. I apologize for the intrusion of abbreviations on the web site, but the Notes and Lists should help to clarify them.
Through Search Images you can get a taste of our databse, though it is not as detailed as the record example below it does have the Kind, Type, Shape, WHT#, Maker, Max, and Images where available.

We welcome donations and grants to expedite and expand our work.
We are interested in buying unique moulds and catalogues not already shown in this collection. I would particularly appreciate catalogues of George Normann of Neurenburg, Jacob Ernst of New York, and Johannes Georg Reinöhl of Ulm.
We gratefully acknowledge the pleasure of meeting and receiving kindly help and information from the many dealers and collectors whom we have met.
Olof Ekberg, computer programmer of many years and director of an audio visual company in North Conway has organized and developed the computer programs of our enterprise and this web site.
In recent months we have been further helped to adapt the format, label and process the photographs and notes by Miss Sonya Lloyd, a Graphic/Web Designer.
